Why is Labiaplasty Gaining Widespread Popularity?
Why is Labiaplasty Gaining Widespread Popularity?
It may have been difficult for women from past generations to discuss embarrassing problems associated with experiencing discomfort with their sexual organs, but fortunately, the taboo surrounding this topic is rapidly vanishing in the 21st Century. Today’s modern women are increasingly taking control of their own lives and health, and many are willing to take steps to improve their personal health and comfort, and even to enhance their sexual pleasure!
One such decision is the decision to undergo labiaplasty, a procedure that rejuvenates the female genitals by removing excess skin from the labia minora, tightening and rejuvenating the appearance of the vulva, which is specifically the outer portion of the vagina. Labiaplasty is one of several procedures that we offer at Glamour Plastic Surgery and Med Spa as part of our feminine rejuvenation or vaginal rejuvenation treatment options.
What is Labiaplasty?
The female genitals consist of the vagina which is inside the body cavity and consists of the vagina walls and opening, and the vulva, or the outer part of the vagina, which consists of the labia majora (outer lips), labia minora (inner lips) and clitoris. Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that trims excess skin from the labia minora to achieve a tighter and more youthful appearance, as well as to remove excess tissue that may cause discomfort when wearing tight garments or during sexual intercourse.
What is clitoral hood reduction?
When the labiaplasty is performed, you may choose to combine clitoral hood reduction surgery with the procedure, as this reduces the amount of skin that covers the clitoris, making it more exposed and easier to stimulate during sex, naturally leading to increased orgasmic ability and more intense orgasms.
Is Labiaplasty right for me?
Many women suffer discomfort, either physical or psychological, due to excessively large labia minora, with some noticing that the labia become more lax with age, or as a result of childbirth or sexual trauma. Dr. Bachilo often treats patients who have experienced years of embarrassment and discomfort when wearing tight clothing, when exercising, bike riding, swimming, and/or during sexual intercourse. Labiaplasty may be right for you if you experience any of this. Other women seek labiaplasty with a clitoral hood reduction in order to increase sensitivity in the clitoral area, improving the woman’s ability to achieve orgasm, and often re-charging a lackluster libido that has subsided with age, or as a consequence of physical discomfort or lack of sensitivity. Many of our patients also express increased libido with simple labiaplasty, as a consequence of newfound comfort and confidence.
Who can I trust to perform Labiaplasty?
Needless to say, when undergoing a procedure such as this, many patients seek out the best female plastic surgeon in Houston. Fortunately, at Glamour Plastic Surgery and Med Spa, Dr. Olga Bachilo, a highly trusted plastic surgeon practicing for decades in the Houston area, is a local leader in labiaplasty surgery. Dr. Bachilo’s patients appreciate her gentle bedside manner as well as her knowledge and experience, and our state-of-the-art facility serving Katy, Sugar Land, and nearby communities.
What does the procedure involve?
Dr. Bachilo typically performs simple labiaplasty and clitoral hood reduction surgeries using oral anesthesia in the comfort of her office. The costs for this procedure performed with this type of anesthesia are far less than those for labiaplasty surgery performed under general anesthesia. The procedure is simple and safe; however, you will need someone to drive you home after the procedure, as you may still be too groggy from the medication to transport yourself.
What about recovery?
Typically, patients report minor discomfort and swelling for about 1-2 weeks following the labiaplasty or clitoral hood reduction procedure. This inflammation may be alleviated by ice packs, and Dr. Bachilo will also prescribe pain medication to help you manage discomfort during this period. Some patients are able to resume working after only two or three days, while others, particularly those whose work requires long periods of sitting, may require a bit longer. We use self-dissolving stitches that will disappear on their own within a few weeks after surgery.
When can I have sex after labiaplasty?
You will have to hold off on any type of strenuous activity, as well as sexual activity and the use of tampons, for about 4-6 weeks following your surgery to ensure optimal healing of delicate tissue.
