Brow Lift & Forehead Lift in Houston, TX
What Are Brow and Forehead Lift?
According to the most recent study, the most important features of your face are your eyebrows. They are critical in relaying your emotions and are vital in facial recognition. As you age, your skin changes. It loses its elasticity causing wrinkles and sagging. Aging of your forehead causes eyebrows to descend which produces a tired and weighed down look. Brow lift procedure can help restore your younger appearance by removing years of forehead wrinkles and fine lines while revitalizing your eye to appear more open and refreshed.
What Can Brow Lift Accomplish?
- Elevate sagging eyebrows, creating a more youthful and refreshed look.
- Improve appearance of the upper eyes lids, making eyes appear more open.
- Remove excess drooping skin from the forehead.
- Reduce vertical worry lines between the eyebrows.
- Reduce horizontal wrinkles and fine lines on the forehead.
Benefits of the brow lift procedure can boost you confidence and allow you to look as good as you feel. Your transformation begins by visiting with Dr. Bachilo to discuss your personal aesthetic needs during your free consultation.
What to Expect During Your Brow or Forehead Lift Consultation?
Dr. Bachilo will listen to your concerns and your aesthetic goals. You will be asked about your medical and surgical history and any medications you are taking. Dr. Bachilo will then examine your skin and evaluate position of your brows. She will then be able to determine if you are a good candidate for brow lift surgery and describe your expected result from the procedure. Dr. Bachilo may offer several different options available for brow lift and explain any risks associated with them. Surgical options include an endoscopic brow lift and a traditional brow lift. The endoscopic procedure is less invasive and is ideal for patients who have minor cosmetic signs of aging. The traditional brow lift is a more extensive procedure and allows for removal of excess forehead skin. This procedure is best for patients who have significant sagging of the brow and show advanced signs of aging.
Once you decide that you are ready to schedule your surgery, you will be given detailed pre surgical instructions and will be asked to discontinue use of aspirin and other anti-inflammatory medications you may be taking as well as abstain from smoking for a month prior to your elective procedure.
How Is Brow Lift Procedure Performed?
Your procedure is performed in an outpatient surgery center or a hospital under general anesthesia and takes about an hour. Dr. Bachilo will design a surgical plan unique to your needs, and will generally utilize one of the two most common surgical techniques: traditional brow lift procedure or the endoscopic brow lift procedure.
The traditional brow lift is ideal for patients who need skin excision and have advanced signs of aging. The incision is designed along the hairline, so it is well hidden and leaves a barely perceptible scar. Frown muscles that create wrinkles between the eyebrows are surgically weakened and the skin is lifted and tightened to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Eyebrows are thus elevated to produce a more youthful eyebrows and forehead.
The endoscopic brow lift utilizes a camera and is a minimally invasive procedure. Camera is inserted through a small incision in the scalp and another incision is used to dissect under the eyebrows and cut the muscles that cause frown lines. The skin of the forehead is elevated and suspended using sutures or screws to provide a youthful facial appearance. Several small incisions are located in the hairline and are thus well hidden. Endoscopic brow lift benefit is that it is minimally invasive and recovery is quick. However, it is only ideal for patients with short forehead and when forehead skin removal is not necessary.
What to Expect During Forehead or Brow Lift Recovery?
Discomfort is minimal after a brow lift procedure, but you can expect some bruising and swelling. You will receive detailed post-operative instructions and have a follow up scheduled with Dr. Bachilo. You should be able to return to work within a few days of your procedure. You need to refrain from heavy lifting and strenuous physical activity for approximately four weeks after surgery. Staples or sutures in your scalp will be removed 10 to 14 days after surgery. At one month, recovery is near complete and you will be able to enjoy the final results of your brow lift. Scars, however, will continue to change and fade over time.

Frequently Asked Questions
A brow lift is a surgical procedure designed for healthy adults who want to get rid of excess skin in the forehead that makes the eyebrows appear heavy and saggy. An eyebrow lift also treats wrinkles and creases in the forehead. The procedure is especially suitable for individuals who wish to treat the following concerns:
1) Eyebrows that are thick and heavy and appear to sag or droop
2) Horizontal creases, lines, and wrinkles on the forehead
3) Vertical “worry lines” between the eyebrows
During your intake interview, Dr. Bachilo will ask key questions about your medical background, your history of cosmetic procedures and injectable treatments, and what drugs or medication you are taking. You will be advised to quit smoking and drinking in preparation for your surgery, and you may also need to suspend certain blood-thinning medications in preparation for the procedure.
Brow lift surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia, and the surgery may be performed using the traditional surgical method or the newer endoscopic method, which is less invasive. In either case, the procedure will require a tiny incision, through which Dr. Bachilo will lift and tighten the skin and muscles of the forehead, eliminate excess fat, and trim away excess skin. In many cases, the eyebrows may be pulled to a higher position on the face, which makes the face appear younger.
Patients often choose to combine a brow lift procedure with another surgical procedure, such as an eyelid lift to tighten sagging skin around the eyes, or a neck lift to tighten the skin of the lower face and neck. You may choose to enhance the mid-face region with cheek implants, or enhance definition in your chin with a chin implant. During your initial consultation, Dr. Bachilo will recommend the best set of combined procedures to address all of your aesthetic concerns.
The cost for a brow lift will vary with each patient, depending in large part on the type of procedure that you have, whether it’s a traditional surgery or an endoscopic surgery. General cost may vary from $4,500 to $7,000. You may also wish to combine the brow lift with other procedures as a package, which will help you save money on the combination of treatments. During your intake consultation with Dr. Bachilo, you will be free to inquire about cost and payment plans so you can effectively plan ahead for your surgery.
Yes. It is very common for patients to combine a surgical procedure such as a brow lift with Botox, Dysport or Xeomin injections, as well as dermal fillers such as Restylane, Radiesse and Juvederm, as well as many others. Ask Dr. Bachilo at your intake consultation what combination of treatments she recommends to help you look your best.
No. A brow lift will lift and tighten sagging skin in the eyebrows and forehead, but in order to tighten the skin around the eyes themselves, you will need a blepharoplasty or eyelid lift. Both procedures may be combined in a single surgical session.
Yes. Many of our patients are concerned about thick, deep folds or furrows that form in the center of the eyebrows, at the top of the bridge of the nose. This is one of the many concerns that a brow lift can easily correct.
As with any surgical procedure, you should prepare in advance by planning to have someone drive you home after the surgery, and help out around the house while you recover. Following the procedure, moderate swelling, numbness, and soreness around the incision site is normal, and swelling may extend into the area of the eyes, nose and cheeks, but these symptoms naturally resolve themselves within a week or so. You will have to keep your head elevated in a vertical position for the first 48 hours, so plan to sleep in a sitting position propped up by pillows. In rare cases, patients may experience temporary hair loss around the incision area, but normal hair growth will resume within a few weeks. Patients who are candidates for the endoscopic brow lift will typically experience less swelling and discomfort, and often heal more quickly than those who undergo the traditional procedure.
No. A brow lift is performed in such a way that the hairline incisions are hidden within the natural hair line or it may be hidden in the hair like just above the eyebrow, so they will be virtually invisible. Additionally, these scars fade gradually over time, becoming even less visible.
