A More Comfortable, Refined Lower Body Contour
A thigh lift, also called thighplasty, is a body contouring procedure designed to remove excess skin and improve the shape of the inner or outer thighs. It is often considered after significant weight loss, aging, or changes in skin elasticity that leave loose, hanging skin or persistent tissue fullness in the thigh area.
Depending on your anatomy and goals, a thigh lift may address loose skin, chafing, uneven contour, and difficulty fitting comfortably into certain clothing. Liposuction may be combined with thigh lift surgery when appropriate to further refine the area, but the main purpose of thighplasty is skin removal and contour improvement rather than weight loss.
Dr. Olga Bachilo customizes the procedure based on the amount and location of excess skin, your skin quality, and your desired result. Incisions may be limited to the groin crease for smaller amounts of skin laxity or extend along the inner thigh when more significant skin removal is needed. Contact Glamour Plastic Surgery and Med Spa and come in for a complimentary evaluation and learn more about how a thigh lift can help you.

What to Expect During Thigh Lift Consultation?
During your consultation, Dr. Bachilo will listen to your concerns. She will obtain your medical history and perform an exam to evaluate your skin and excess tissue of the thighs. For the best surgical results, you should be at a stable weight. Dr. Bachilo will provide you with information about a thigh lift procedure and discuss what you can expect.
Dr. Bachilo may suggest some adjunct procedures to further augment your results such as liposuction of the thighs. Thighplasty may also be safely combined with a number of other cosmetic procedures.
Once you determine that you want to proceed with surgery, our staff will provide you with detailed pre-operative instructions. At Glamour Plastic Surgery and Med Spa, we are committed to patient safety and delivering the best surgical result, and therefore we emphasize the importance of following all pre-operative instructions which include refraining from taking aspirin and other anti-inflammatory medications that increase bleeding prior to the surgery and avoiding smoking for any elective procedure.
How Is Thighplasty Procedure Done?
Thigh lift surgery is performed in an outpatient surgery center or the hospital under general anesthesia and requires 2 to 4 hours. Different techniques exist to perform a thigh lift.
For a minimal lift, the incision can be made in the groin crease and only a small amount of vertical excess skin is removed. For a more significant lift and larger skin removal, the incision is started in the groin and carried down towards the knee in the medial thigh. This incision allows for a more contoured thigh and more skin excision, but as a result, there is a longer scar.
Occasionally, for even more skin removal, a patient may be a candidate for an outer thigh direct excision of excess tissue. Prior to your procedure, Dr. Bachilo will determine which incision will be most appropriate for your individual need and she will discuss this with you in detail.
After excess skin and fat in the thighs are removed, the incisions are closed with absorbable sutures. To prevent fluid from accumulating in the legs, small drainage tubes may be used in each tight. These tubes will be removed during your post-operative visit.
What Is Thigh Lift Recovery Like?
Pain, swelling and bruising is expected after the procedure. Pain is well controlled with oral pain medications and you will be encouraged to walk shortly after your procedure.
You will have compression bandages or a compression garment to wear on your legs for several weeks after your procedure. You will receive detailed post-surgical care instructions which will include instructions on how to care for your drain tubes. You should walk right after your procedure, but no strenuous activities or heavy lifting should be done for at least 2 weeks.
After about 2 weeks most patients are able to return to work, and at 6 weeks our patients are able to resume all of their normal activities including exercise.
What Kind of Result Can I Expect From Thighplasty?
Immediately after surgery, you will notice an improvement in the thigh contour. Final results will be visible after all of the bruising and swelling resolves. After the incisions are healed, scars continue to change and fade over a year after surgery.
You will receive instructions on scar management and may begin that right after everything heals. It is very important to protect young scars from sun exposure as the sun may make scars permanently dark. Thigh lift patients are generally very pleased with their results and are able to enjoy new wardrobe options to show off their new figure!
