How Is Thighplasty Procedure Done?
Thigh lift surgery is performed in an outpatient surgery center or the hospital under general anesthesia and requires 2 to 4 hours. Different techniques exist to perform a thigh lift.
For a minimal lift incision can be made in the groin crease and only a small amount of vertical excess skin is removed. For a more significant lift and a larger skin removal, incision is started in the groin and carried downward towards the knee in the medial thigh. This incision allows for a more contoured thigh and more skin excision, but as a result there is a longer scar. Occasionally, for even more skin removal, a patient may be a candidate for an outer thigh direct excision of excess tissue. Prior to your procedure, Dr. Bachilo will determine which incision will be most appropriate for your individual need and she will discuss this with you in details. After excess skin and fat in the thighs is removed, the incisions are closed with absorbable sutures. To prevent fluid from accumulating in the legs, small drainage tubes may be used in each tight. These tubes will be removed during your post-operative visit.
What Is Thigh Lift Recovery Like?
Pain, swelling and bruising is expected after procedure. Pain is well controlled with oral pain medications and you will be encouraged to walk shortly after your procedure. You will have compression bandages or a compression garment to wear on your legs during several weeks after your procedure. You will receive detailed post-surgical care instructions which will include instructions on how to care for your drain tubes. You should walk right after your procedure, but no strenuous activities or heavy lifting should be done for at least 2 weeks. After about 2 weeks most patients are able to return to work, and at 6 weeks our patients are able to resume all of their normal activities including exercise.
What Kind of Result Can I Expect From Thighplasty?
Immediately after surgery you will notice improvement in thigh contour. Final results will be visible after all of the bruising and swelling resolves. After the incisions are healed, scars continue to change and fade over a year after surgery. You will receive instructions on scar management and may begin that right after everything heals. It is very important to protect young scars from sun exposure as sun may make scars permanently dark. Thigh lift patients are generally very pleased with their results and are able to enjoy new wardrobe options to show off their new figure!

If your thighs rub together at the top and cause chafing and discomfort, if you have bags of fat sagging around your kneecap, if your thighs look droopy because you’ve lost weight, you should consider a Thigh Lift or thighplasty. Thigh Lift surgery can rejuvenate your appearance by toning and tightening the skin and muscle tissue in your thighs to create a more attractive contour.
Thigh Lift surgery tightens and tones muscles and skin in the thighs to remove unsightly bags of fat or sagging skin. Thighplasty can transform droopy, sagging thighs into thighs that are toned, contoured, and shapely, rejuvenating the appearance of the entire leg.
While any healthy adult who wants to remove unwanted fat and sagging skin from the thighs may be a good candidate, the procedure is most suitable for individuals who maintain a stable weight, are generally fit, maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen, and are not in the process of losing weight.

Thigh Lift surgery may vary widely in cost due to factors such as the extent of work required, and whether or not Liposuction is used in conjunction with surgery. Typically, the cost can range anywhere from $3,000 to $10,000, depending on a series of factors, as well as whether you opt to have multiple surgeries done at once, which can save money on the cost of each procedure.
Possibly. A Thigh Lift can tighten either the inner or outer thigh, or both areas. When performed on the inner thigh, the Thigh Lip will produce the separation between the top of the thighs that is commonly referred to as a “thigh gap.”
No. It’s best to hold off on a contouring procedure until you have attained your ideal weight or are very close to it, as future weight loss could alter and affect the outcome of your Thigh Lift surgery.
The Thigh Lift is performed under general anesthesia.
The scars from a Thigh Lift surgery are camouflaged along the inner thigh and the crease of the buttock, to be hidden when you stand with your legs facing forward. The incisions used in cosmetic surgery are very fine, hairline incisions that leave very fine, barely visible scars. Further, over time, the scars will heal and fade away, particularly if you care properly for them.
Yes, you may choose to combine a Thigh Lift with other procedures in order to save time and money, reduce your exposure to anesthesia, and recover from multiple procedures at one time.
While surgical procedures typically produce results that are long-term, future changes in your body such as weight fluctuations could alter the outcome of your procedure and you may wish to consider a follow-up procedure at that time.
