What’s It Like To Get Lip Filler Injections?

While lip filler injections are not particularly painful, Dr. Bachilo takes extra precautions to ensure that you experience no discomfort during treatment, such as applying a topical numbing agent to the treatment area before administering the injections. In addition, Dr. Bachilo will recommend the best dermal filler or combination of fillers to achieve your aesthetic goals, based on your condition and skin type.

It is usual for some patients to experience minor swelling, redness, and/or soreness in the treatment area for several hours following treatment. To alleviate any discomfort, Dr. Bachilo recommends applying ice packs to the treatment area and taking Tylenol or other non-prescription pain medication.

While there is no downtime required after lip injections, you must avoid touching or rubbing your lips, as well as kissing anyone, for about 24 hours after treatment. It is also important to protect the lips from extreme sunlight or cold weather for several days after this cosmetic treatment.

Am I A Good Candidate For Lip Fillers?

You may be a good candidate for lip filler treatment if you are a healthy adult and you wish to enhance the volume and definition of your lips, enhance the cupid’s bow at the top, or eliminate vertical perioral lines (sometimes called “smoker’s lines”) around the outline of the lips. It may not be possible to undergo lip enhancement if you suffer from medical conditions affecting the lips and mouth.

Results

What Can A Lip Filler Treatment Accomplish?

You will notice a dramatic improvement in the shape and volume of your lips immediately after treatment. However, the full effects of your treatment will become visible after all swelling subsides, typically about a week or two after treatment.

Additionally, the dermal filler injections will produce continued improvements as the hyaluronic acid in the gel formula begins to attract moisture to your skin cells, making the skin of your lips more hydrated, which means your lips will appear plumper, smoother, and fuller. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in your skin and body that decreases with age, leading to volume loss throughout the skin.

Depending on which lip injections Dr. Bachilo selects for you, the results of your lip filler treatment could last anywhere from about six months to a year.

I really love this practice, Dr. Bachilo and her esthetician Eva Rotmann are very personable. Feels more like visiting with a friend in the way they provide care. Easy location right off 610 and free covered parking and I've never had to wait more than a few minutes. When they offer a cappuccino during your visit, accept as it is stellar. With just one syringe of filler placed in multiple strategic spots, Dr. Bachilo made a dramatic improvement which reduced jowling and even minimized neck sag.
