It may be helpful if you can bring a photo of the buttock you find attractive. Dr. Bachilo will evaluate your medical history and examine your body to determine if you are healthy for elective surgery and are a good candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift. It is best if you are at your ideal body weight that you are happy with and can maintain long-term. It would be best if you also had sufficient fat to move from other parts of the body to your buttock. Dr. Bachilo will describe the procedure to you and explain the risks associated with your procedure.

When you are ready to schedule your surgery, you will be given instructions on how to prepare. Dr. Bachilo will advise you to stop smoking at least one month before your operation. Brazilian butt lifts are performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia. The procedure requires 3 to 4 hours, depending on the volume of fat being transferred. First, body sculpting liposuction is performed to contour the body and harvest the fat for injection. Tiny incisions are strategically placed around the body areas you wish to liposuction.

Dr. Bachilo will discuss with you and plan out which areas of your body will have liposuction performed to obtain enough fat. The best donor sites for fat are the flanks, abdomen, hips, and thighs. You can also request to have other specific areas addressed at the same time, such as arms, legs, or chin. Your buttock shape will further be accentuated through the use of body contouring with liposuction.

Body fat removed through liposuction is then prepared for injection into the buttock. The harvested fat is carefully injected to contour the buttocks until the desired effect is achieved. Compression garments are needed for body areas receiving liposuction and applied at the end of the procedure. Pressure should be avoided on the buttock to preserve the new shape and avoid damage to fat cells.

Swelling and bruising are expected after surgery and resolve over several weeks. Any discomfort after your procedure is well controlled with oral pain medications prescribed by your surgeon. You will be provided instructions on how to care for yourself after your operation. You will be asked to wear compression garments for areas that had liposuction performed.

Please avoid sitting or laying on your buttocks for an extended period of time to prevent damage to the newly transplanted fat cells and avoid alterations in your buttock shape. You should be able to resume putting pressure on your buttock in about two weeks after the surgery, at which time most of the discomfort will also subside. You should be able to return to work within a week or two with minimal limitations. Six weeks after the procedure, you may resume all of your normal activities.

After the procedure, you will immediately notice a change in your body shape; however, the final result will become apparent when all of the swellings resolve. The injected fat stabilizes around 3 months after the procedure. Your body will reabsorb some of the fat that is injected, and it’s expected for the final shape to be somewhat smaller than what is seen immediately after surgery. Your results should be long-lasting as long as you maintain your weight. Your new buttock is made of your own fat cells and will respond with you as you lose and gain weight.
