Do you have stubborn pockets of fat resistant to all the exercising and dieting you are doing? Liposuction may be an answer for you to target your hard-to-treat, stubborn, and unwanted areas of fat.
Liposuction is one of the most common cosmetic procedures that can target abdominal extra fat build-up and fat around the mid-section, thighs, arms, and armpits. Liposuction is also performed on the neck to remove a double chin and cheeks to remove the jowls. Liposuction can create a more contoured appearance by removing your “muffin top,” “love handles,” or “saddlebags” and produce natural, long-lasting results as long as you maintain your weight.
Liposuction is not a means of weight loss but is designed to help contour your body for a more desired defined and sculpted appearance. Liposuction may also be combined with several other cosmetic procedures to produce the best result. Contact our office to schedule your free consultation and learn how liposuction can help you achieve that hourglass sculpted body you’ve always wanted. We are located 31 minutes from Pearland and 9 minutes from West University.
What to Expect During Your Lipo Consultation
Dr. Bachilo will meet with you and discuss your concerns and goals. She will perform an evaluation and recommend whether liposuction is your best surgical procedure to achieve the results you want. Dr. Bachilo may make recommendations for additional non-surgical or surgical procedures that will further enhance your results. Dr. Bachilo will go over the procedure details and explain any risks involved.
When you are ready to schedule your procedure, you will be given detailed pre-operative instructions. You will be asked to stop smoking and stop taking any medications that increase bleeding for your safety. It is important to us that you are comfortable with your decision and if you have any questions, please make sure to ask your doctor or one of the clinic staff before your surgery.
How Is Liposuction Performed?
Liposuction may be performed in an outpatient surgical center or a clinic setting using local or general anesthesia. Whether liposuction can be done as an outpatient procedure will depend on the amount of fat to be removed, the operation’s length, and the number of body areas addressed. For extensive volume liposuction, an overnight stay at the hospital is usually recommended for close patient monitoring.
Liposuction requires only several small incisions about a quarter of an inch strategically placed to access the pockets of excess fat cells. Modern liposuction techniques always utilize a special fluid called a tumescent solution that contains local anesthetic and adrenaline that is infused into the fat pockets before fat removal. A small hollow tube, a cannula, is used to loosen and remove the fat deposits with gentle suction.
During fat removal surgery, to achieve the best cosmetic result, Dr. Bachilo continuously monitors your body contour. When the desired shape and contour is reached, skin incisions are closed with absorbable sutures. Dressings and surgical garments are applied to treated body areas.
What to Expect During Lipo Recovery
You will be given detailed post-operative instructions after your liposuction procedure. It is normal to experience some swelling, bruising, and drainage from the incision sites. If these are excessive, please make sure to notify your surgeon. Pain is minimal and will be controlled with prescription medication given to you by Dr. Bachilo. She will instruct you to continuously wear your compression garment to reduce swelling and produce the best results. You should be able to return to work in just a few days to a week after your surgery.
What Results Can I Expect After Liposuction?
Liposuction results will vary and will depend on your age, skin elasticity, and your starting appearance. It is important to have realistic expectations and understand what this procedure can and cannot deliver. For example, liposuction is not intended for people to lose weight, and those with loose skin are likely not good candidates for this procedure. You will see improvement in your body contour immediately, and as bruising and swelling decrease, you will see your final result. It may take 2-3 months before you can enjoy your best shape.
