Do you have stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to all the exercising and dieting you are doing? Liposuction may be an answer for you to target your hard to treat, stubborn and unwanted areas of fat.
Liposuction is one of the most common cosmetic procedures that can target not only abdominal extra fat build-up, but also fat around the mid-section, thighs, arms, armpits. Liposuction is also preformed on the face to remove the double chin, and cheeks to remove the jowls. Liposuction can create a more contoured appearance by removing your “muffin top”, “love handles” or “saddle bags” and produce natural long lasting results as long as you maintain your weight.
Liposuction is not a means of weight loss, but is designed to help contour your body for a more desired defined and sculpted appearance. Liposuction may also be combined with several other cosmetic procedures to produce the best result. Contact our office to schedule your free consultation and learn how liposuction can help you achieve that hourglass sculpted body you’ve always wanted.
What to Expect During Your Lipo Consultation?
Dr. Bachilo will meet with you and discuss your concerns and goals. She will perform an evaluation and recommend whether liposuction is your best surgical option to produce the results you want. Dr. Bachilo may make recommendations for additional non-surgical or surgical procedures that will further enhance your results. Dr. Bachilo will go over the procedure details and explain any risks involved.
When you are ready to schedule your procedure, you will be given detailed pre-operative instructions. For your safety, you will be asked to stop smoking and stop taking any medications that increase bleeding. It is important to us that you are comfortable with your decision and if you have any questions, please make sure to ask your doctor or one of the clinic staff prior to your surgery.
How Is Liposuction Procedure Performed?
Liposuction may be performed in an outpatient surgical center or a clinic setting using local or general anesthesia. The best setting and the length of the operation will depend on the amount of fat to be removed and number of body areas addressed. For very large volume liposuction, overnight stay at the hospital is usually recommended for close patient monitoring.
Liposuction requires only several small incisions about a quarter of an inch strategically placed to access the fat pockets. Special fluid containing local anesthetic and adrenaline is infused into the fat pockets prior to fat removal. A small hollow cylinder with openings, or a liposuction cannula, is used to loosen and then remove the fat deposits with suction tubing.
During the removal of the fat in order to achieve best cosmetic result, Dr. Bachilo continuously monitors your body contour. When the desired shape and contour is reached, skin incisions are closed with absorbable sutures. Dressings and surgical garments are applied to treated body areas.
What to Expect During Lipo Recovery?
You will be given detailed post-operative instructions after your procedure. It is normal to experience some swelling, bruising and drainage from the incision sites. If these are excessive, please make sure to notify your surgeon. Pain is minimal and will be controlled with prescription medication given to you by Dr. Bachilo. You will be instructed to wear your compression garments continuously in order to reduce swelling and produce best results. You should be able to return to work in just a few days to a week after your surgery.
What Results Can I Expect After Liposuction?
Liposuction results will vary and will depend on your age, your skin elasticity and your starting appearance. It is important to have realistic expectations and understand what this procedure can and cannot deliver. You will see improvement in your body contour immediately, and as bruising and swelling decrease you will see your final result. It may take 2-3 month before you can enjoy your best shape.
