HOW IT WORKS
Sculptra® is a dermal filler injection that gradually enhances fullness, volume and elasticity in the skin by activating increased production of collagen, a natural substance that nourishes, hydrates, and supports skin cells, producing firmer and smoother skin with a reduction in lines and wrinkles.
The Sculptra® gel has a thicker and more viscous consistency than most other dermal fillers, which makes is especially useful in certain specific applications. It also contains lidocaine, a pain relieving substance, which makes the application comfortable and painless.
Sculptra® triggers collagen production that continues for several weeks, causing skin firmness and volume to gradually improve over this period, producing results that appear gradually and subtly but end up making a dramatic difference. Its thick consistency means that Sculptra® treatment results are typically longer-lasting than those of other dermal fillers, and may last as long as two years.
Sculptra®’s uniquely thick consistency makes it especially effective at improving such conditions as flattened or sunken cheeks, adding volume and fullness to bony or undefined cheekbones.
Sculptra® also fills in and smoothes nasolabial folds or parentheses lines extending from the edges of the nose to the lip corners, and vertical lines extending down from the corners of the mouth, known as marionette lines. Sculptra® also increases volume in the chin area, adding definition and firmness to the chin and jaw area, firming sagging skin, and tightening up jowls.
Sculptra® is also effective at treating other facial areas, such as the temples, and is also used on various parts of the body to enhance volume, firmness, and definition. Many patients choose to combine Sculptra® with other dermal fillers or procedures to produce a more dramatic makeover.
