One of the most widely sought after procedures of late at our Med Spa is Microneedling, an excellent skin resurfacing treatment that corrects surface imperfections in the skin and endows the skin with renewed firmness and radiance.
Why is Microneedling gaining so much popularity?
Very simply because microneedling produces outstanding results.
Microneedling is an advanced nonsurgical skin resurfacing treatment that repairs the surface layers of skin that have been damaged by the elements, aging, or irritants such as smoking and air pollution. It reduces the appearance of surface imperfections such as acne scars, stretch marks, age spots, and uneven skin tone. The treatment also triggers the production of collagen and elastin, improving the skin’s texture and tone, making it firmer and smoother, and smoothing out the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
How does Microneedling work?
Microneedling is performed using a device that gently punctures the surface layer of skin with minuscule needles, creating what the skin considers an injury, and thus triggering the production of collagen and elastin, two essential building blocks of healthy skin. The healing process, which is the body’s natural response to this skin “injury,” produces a renewal of the skin’s surface.
How does RF enhance Microneedling?
In addition to standard microneedling treatments, we are now thrilled to offer a new option at our Med Spa, which is microneedling with RadioFrequency (RF) treatments. While traditional microneedling provides excellent improvement to overall skin tone and texture, incorporating RF therapy into the treatment enhances the process, providing more comprehensive skin tightening and enhanced smoothness and firmness.
RadioFrequency is one of the most effective treatments available for non-surgical skin tightening. RF energy applied directly to the skin creates a gentle, penetrative heat that gently constricts the layers of skin below the surface, producing a firmer texture and smoothing out lines and wrinkles.
RF energy delivers heat to the underlying layers of skin to stimulate the production of cutaneous collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid (HA), which are three of the most essential building blocks that keep skin cells firm and supple. RF energy may also help to reduce the appearance of bulges and fatty deposits on the skin, such as jowls in the lower face, by helping to break down these fatty deposits beneath the skin’s surface.
The combination of RF therapy with Microneedling works especially well and takes the benefits of the standard microneedling treatment to the next level because, while microneedling works on the outermost layers of skin, RF delivers healing energy to the innermost layers. This means that the combined treatment improves skin both at the surface level, as well as beneath the surface.
RF microneedling therapy stimulates tissue regeneration and remodeling, triggers the production of collagen, elastin, and HA, tightens the skin and improves definition and contouring, smoothes and diminishes lines and wrinkles, and reduces the appearance of surface imperfections such as acne scarring and age spots.
One of the biggest benefits of microneedling with RF therapy is the ongoing gradual improvement it produces in the skin’s appearance, producing healthier and firmer skin for weeks at a time. Thanks to the increased production of collagen, elastin, and HA, RF therapy is especially suitable for smoothing out folds and wrinkles that develop in the area of the nose and mouth, as well as firming lax skin in the area of the lower face, chin, and neck, but RF microneedling may be performed on almost any area of the face and body.
Is it safe?
Yes. While home microneedling and derma roller devices are definitely not recommended due to safety considerations and the possibility of infection, microneedling treatments performed by a qualified professional at a licensed facility such as Glamour Plastic Surgery and Med Spa, the treatment are perfectly safe. Our professional clinical staff takes every measure to ensure your safety and comfort during the treatment.
The RF energy used in our RF skin tightening treatment is also a completely gentle and safe treatment. RF energy includes many of the common types of energy we use every day, such as radio and TV waves, microwaves, and WiFi signals, all of which are perfectly safe to use. The level of RF energy delivered during RF skin tightening treatments is roughly around 450 kilohertz, which is on the very low end of the radiofrequency spectrum.
How long does it take?
You can get an RF microneedling treatment on your lunch hour! The average treatment may take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour, and virtually no downtime.
What kind of results can I expect?
The improvements in your skin will be visible immediately after your initial treatment, but thanks to the increase in collagen production that the treatment triggers, your full results will develop over a period of 6-8 weeks after your session. During this period, you’ll see how the skin improves gradually, becoming consistently firmer, smoother and more radiant.
In order to optimize your results, you’ll want to schedule a series of follow-up treatments every four to six weeks as needed. With each treatment producing improvements that last for several weeks, you will see dramatic improvements in overall skin tone and texture over time as a result of regular microneedling treatments. In order to treat specific issues such as acne scarring or lax skin, Dr. Bachilo may recommend a plan consisting of a specific number of treatment sessions.
