Five Ways Emsella Can Change Your Life

Imagine sitting on a vibrating chair that delivers the equivalent of 20,000 Kegel exercises in just 30 minutes!

Sound amazing? At Glamour Plastic Surgery and Med Spa, we are thrilled to offer our patients in the greater Houston area the opportunity to strengthen vaginal muscles non-invasively with Emsella. This amazing treatment tightens the pelvic floor muscles, treating incontinence while also enhancing sexual health.

1. Eliminate Urinary Incontinence

Do you experience sudden, uncontrollable urges to urinate or wake up frequently during the night to urinate? Do you occasionally “leak” a little urine when you cough, laugh or exercise?

While it’s embarrassing to discuss, urinary incontinence is a lot more common than you may imagine. This condition affects twice as many women as men. Although it can affect adults of any age, it is typically more prevalent in older women, possibly due to pregnancy and menopause, resulting in lax pelvic floor muscles. The Office of Women’s Health estimates that about 40% of women age 65 and older are affected by urinary incontinence.

We’ve all heard about doing Kegel exercises – repeated, focused contractions of the pelvic floor muscles – to strengthen the pelvic floor and reduce the probability of incontinence. While Kegel exercises improve urinary and sexual health in men and women of all ages, it is not always easy to remember to do these exercises regularly, nor is it always convenient.

Emsella is a non-invasive, FDA-approved High‐Intensity Focused Electromagnetic Energy (HIFEM) treatment that uses electromagnetic energy to engage the pelvic floor muscles and induce rapid, repetitive contractions in these muscles. A single 30-minute Emsella treatment is the equivalent of doing 20,000 Kegel exercises in one sitting – and all you have to do is sit in a chair and relax!

2. Support Abdominal Organs

The pelvic floor muscles are the group of muscles that form hammock-like support for the pelvic organs across the bottom of the pelvis. These include the gluteal, perianal, and vaginal muscles. These muscles support and contribute directly to the health of organs such as the uterus, bowel, bladder, and urethra, affecting the health and function of the anus and the genitals. Healthy pelvic floor muscles firmly support these organs to keep them functioning correctly. Pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, injuries, illnesses, and surgeries may all affect these organs as well as the muscles that support them throughout one’s life. Ensuring the strength and function of the pelvic floor muscles ensures the health and function of the entire pelvic region and all its organs.

3. Strengthen Core

The type of therapy used in the Emsella chair is known as “core to floor therapy.” Emsella is the first treatment for weakened pelvic floor muscles that addresses and strengthens the whole core. Because the pelvic floor muscles are part of your core, these muscles work with your abdomen and diaphragm muscles to support internal organs.

Not only does the Emsella Chair stimulate the pelvic floor muscles, producing intense supramaximal, high tension contractions in these muscles, but this repetitive stimulation also retrains the muscles to help patients regain control over their pelvic floor muscles and bladder. Improved control of the pelvic floor muscles improves posture, alleviates back pain, and strengthens your core.

4.Enhance Sexual Health

An added bonus that Emsella treatments provide is not only the ability to regain bladder and muscle control, but they may also help you achieve more frequent and intense orgasms. Many patients have reported improved sexual response, increased frequency and intensity of orgasms, improved vaginal lubrication, and improved self-confidence during sex after undergoing Emsella treatments.

5. Improve Quality of Life

For those who are troubled by frequent urination during the night, addressing the issue of urinary incontinence will mean improved sleep. For those who find themselves running to the restroom frequently, treatments will improve their quality of life. For those who are embarrassed or afraid to participate in activities where laughing, running, dancing, or other forms of physical exercise might cause an involuntary leak, Emsella treatments can mean regaining the freedom to enjoy a normal life once again. Finally, for those experiencing a decline in their sexual health and enjoyment due to lax vaginal muscles or a decrease in vaginal lubrication, Emsella treatments can be a complete game-changer.

How does Emsella work?

The vibrating Emsella chair combines two electromagnetic energy treatments in one: Emsella and Emsculpt. Emsella utilizes electromagnetic energy to produce rapid, repetitive supramaximal contractions in the pelvic floor muscles. Emsculpt induces similar supramaximal contractions in the abdominal muscles and may be used to target other muscle groups.

The combined treatment is performed automatically and non-invasively while you sit comfortably and fully dressed on the Emsella chair. The chair’s electromagnetic pulses stimulate your muscles on their own.

Using two HIFEM therapies simultaneously to strengthen the abdomen and pelvic floor muscles at once produces increased muscle cell growth, increasing muscle mass, and restores neuromuscular control to have improved involuntary control of the pelvic floor muscles.

During the treatment, participants often report feeling “tingling” in the pelvic floor region. Most patients require a series of six treatments, administered twice weekly over three weeks, but you can expect to feel a significant difference after only two treatments. After completing the series of treatments, you may opt to undergo maintenance and follow-up treatments once a year to monthly.

If you’re embarrassed by urinary incontinence, occasional leaks, or lax pelvic floor and vaginal wall muscles, consider a visit to Glamour Plastic Surgery and Med Spa to consult with Dr. Olga Bachilo on whether Emsella may be a good treatment option for you.
