The Neck Lift is a relatively safe and simple surgical procedure, and is less complicated than a Facelift. The Neck Lift is typically performed under general anesthesia, and through small incisions that may be easily camouflaged in the skin’s natural folds and creases beneath the chin. Through these incisions, Dr. Bachilo will very precisely lift and stretch the neck muscles and skin, extracting pockets of fatty tissue to produce smooth, tight contour in the chin, jaw, neck, and throat. The Neck Lift procedure is performed under general anesthesia, so you will feel nothing during the procedure itself. As with any surgery, some swelling and discomfort may occur after surgery, and these symptoms may be easily managed by over-the-counter pain medication, or Dr. Bachilo may prescribe a stronger pain medicine if you require it.

As with any surgical procedure, it’s best to plan ahead for your surgery and recovery. Plan to have somebody drive you home immediately after the surgery and help out around the house for several days so that you can rest and recover properly. Immediately after you come out of surgery, your neck will be bandaged in compression bandages that you must wear for several days in order to protect delicate tissue, control swelling and discomfort, and support the healing process. You will have to keep your head elevated and sleep in a sitting position propped up by pillows, in order to limit any movement of your neck for about two weeks. It may take up to three weeks before you can gradually begin to resume normal physical activities. The full results of your procedure will become visible after about four weeks, once all the swelling has subsided.
