What Is the SilkPeel® Procedure?
The SilkPeel procedure works somewhat similarly to microdermabrasion or a chemical peel, but the SilkPeel is a more gentle treatment. The SilkPeel treatment, like microdermabrasion or a chemical peel, acts to renew the skin’s surface by gently removing the rough and dull outermost layer of facial skin cells. The difference between the SilkPeel and other treatments is that the SilkPeel uses nutrient-rich treatment serums that are formulated specifically to treat certain skin conditions to exfoliate that outer layer. By contrast, the microdermabrasion procedure uses fine crystals to exfoliate that layer of skin, and chemical peels use harsher plant-based acids to do the trick.
What conditions Does the SilkPeel Treat?
The SilkPeel® treatment removes surface imperfections from the skin’s outermost layer and can be used to treat fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, discoloration, hyper pigmentation, acne, and acne scars. The procedure also triggers production of collagen, which means it will also improve the skin’s hydration and firmness. How Is the SilkPeel® Procedure Performed?
The SilkPeel® procedure takes only about 30 minutes to complete, does not produce any pain or discomfort, and requires no downtime or recovery period. To begin, our specialist will cleanse your face gently and thoroughly to remove any traces of make-up, dirt, debris or other impurities that may have accumulated on the outer layer of skin. Next, she will gently apply the SilkPeel® hand piece directly to the skin, and move it over the treatment area. The SilkPeel® hand piece is designed to gently exfoliate the skin’s outer layers, suctioning away dead skin cells, while simultaneously saturating the skin with the nutrient-rich treatment serum. The serum penetrates profoundly to reach the deeper layers of skin, nourishing those layers with essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
