What Are Calf Implants?
Calf Enlargement provides a solution for individuals with underdeveloped calf muscles that won’t bulk up with training. Fortunately, you can increase volume and definition to add contour to your legs using soft silicone implants that provide the look and feel of natural muscle.
Calf implants are silicone implants that are used in calf augmentation procedures to enhance contour and muscle tone in the calves and legs. Implants come in various shapes and sizes, and may be inserted in sets of two or four, in order to provide a truly customized fit for each patient. Dr. Bachilo will help you select the most natural looking calf implant combination for your legs.
If you’re searching for calf augmentation with implants in Houston and nearby areas, Glamour Plastic Surgery and Med Spa, led by trusted plastic surgeon Dr. Olga Bachilo, provides this procedure for her patients in Houston, Bellaire, Pearland, Katy, Sugar Land, Woodlands and nearby areas.
What Are the Benefits of Calf Implants?
When no amount of training has produced a significant increase in muscle volume in your calves, it may be time to consider calf augmentation. Calf implants can add volume and contour to flat, undeveloped calf muscles, adding the volume you need to fill out your lower legs. In patients who are built larger on top with legs that appear too thin for their body weight, calf augmentation with implants can dramatically improve the appearance of the leg contour and restore balance and proportion to the person’s overall appearance. Calf implants look and feel like natural muscle.
What Does the Procedure Involve?
The implants are inserted by means of a simple surgical procedure that uses small incisions camouflaged in the leg’s natural contours. The implants are inserted through these incisions, and positioned on top of the natural calf muscles under the skin, where they subtly enhance muscular definition and improve the overall leg contour.
How Long Is the Recovery Period After a Calf Augmentation?
While each patient is different and recovery rates vary between individuals, after a calf implant surgery, a recovery period applies during which you must avoid using the calf muscles for about a week, and you should plan ahead to have help with basic care during this period, as you will need to be off your feet as much as possible. Calf augmentation directly impacts the lower leg muscles that we use to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, and perform a host of other essential daily activities. For this reason, crutches may be useful during the first 5-7 days following your surgery. You may be able to walk normally after 7-14 days, depending on the type of surgery you have, but you must avoid strenuous leg exercises for a period of 3-4 weeks. Dr. Bachilo recommends that you hold off on physical activities involving the lower leg for as long as 8-10 weeks, because there is a risk of seroma formation, or fluid accumulating around the implants, which may occur as a consequence of exercising too soon. This condition can become chronic, so it is especially important to allow the legs to rest and heal correctly and properly after the calf augmentation procedure. You may be advised to wear compression stockings for about 6-8 weeks and walk gently around the house in order to prevent the formation of clots in the legs. Any soreness, aching, or discomfort following the procedure may be managed with pain medications.
