Pec Implants
Pec implants are among the most commonly used body implants in both cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. Pectoral implants are used to enhance the appearance, size, and/or shape of the pectoral muscles, creating a more contoured and defined chest and upper body. Pectoral implants were first used in reconstructive pectoral augmentation surgeries to correct congenital conditions such as Poland’s Syndrome and Marfan Syndrome, but soon became widely used in aesthetic applications for enhancing the male physique.
Pec Implant Revision
Over time, as the body ages and changes, patients may change their minds about the implants they’ve been wearing, and may wish to remove or replace their implants. In some cases, patients may decide to undergo implant revision surgery to address a problem with their implants, such as rippling or contracture, but in other cases, a patient may elect to undergo implant revision for purely aesthetic reasons. Some patients may elect to replace pec implants with a natural fat transfer procedure using fat from their own bodies.
Gluteal (Butt) Implants
Gluteal augmentation with gluteal implants, also known as a “butt lift,” is a popular procedure among both women and men that is designed to enhance the size, firmness, and volume of the buttocks. Gluteal augmentation may be performed using silicone gel implants or by means of a fat transfer procedure using fat from the patient’s own body.
Gluteal Implant Revision
If, after a few years, you’re not happy with your gluteal augmentation procedure, you may consider gluteal implant revision surgery, in which your gluteal implants may be removed or replaced with different implants. Gluteal revision surgery may also be indicated if there is a problem with the original implants.
Hip Implants
Cosmetic hip implants are flat, silicone gel slices that are inserted and positioned between the muscle and the skin over the hip bone to produce a more curvaceous appearance in the hip and pelvis.
Particularly popular among women whose body type is angular and who long for a more curvy appearance, hip augmentation with implants can make the silhouette appear more feminine and cause certain types of garments to fit better.
Calf Implants
Some people are unfortunately born with underdeveloped calves that appear bony and disproportionately thin in comparison to the rest of the body.
This imbalance can be easily corrected with simple calf implants inserted over the calf muscle and under the skin to increase volume and fullness in the calf and make the calf appear sturdier and thicker, with more defined muscular contour.
This procedure is popular among both men and women, and produces shapelier, more muscular and youthful-looking legs.
Bicep and Tricep Implants
When no amount of weightlifting can help you achieve the toned and contoured arms that you desire, consider biceps or triceps implants, and possibly even both.
These implants are designed to enhance the musculature of the upper arm area by adding fullness and volume, while also enhancing the shape of the bicep and triceps muscles, improving contour and definition in the upper arms.
Deltoid Implants
For implants such as deltoid implants that are used to enhance the appearance of specific muscles, the implant is usually constructed of solid silicone. In some cases, however, the plastic surgeon may elect to transfer muscle from another area of the patient’s body and graft it to the area where increased muscular definition is desired.
Another option is to extract fat from the patient’s own body through liposuction, liquefy it, and inject it directly into the target area to increase volume and fullness in that region.
Thigh Implants
Thigh implants are similar to bicep, triceps, and calf implants, in that they are usually thin slices of solid silicone gel, designed to fit over specific muscles to augment the size and shape of the muscle and increase muscular definition in specific areas. The possibility of muscle or fat grafting in lieu of silicone gel implants is also an option in these areas, but silicone implants are more frequently used.
