What Is Bellafill and How Does it Work?
Bellafill® is a smooth, new dermal injection treatment and the first and only treatment that the FDA has approved to treat sagging skin, wrinkles, and acne scars over the long term. Bellafill contains collagen and minuscule polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres that provide a support structure that lifts and enhances facial volume and supports collagen growth.
Immediately following treatment, the collagen gel in Bellafill® visibly improves the tone and texture of the skin, making the skin appear smoother and plumper, and diminishing the appearance of wrinkles and surface imperfections such as acne scars. Over time, the skin absorbs collagen particles, creating a smoother skin texture. The PMMA microspheres are left behind to form a web-like support structure upon which collagen fibers can continue to build and grow, producing smoother-looking skin that lasts for years.

Who Is the Ideal Candidate for Bellafill Injections?
Almost any healthy adult can improve their appearance with Bellafill. Still, the treatment is especially suitable for those with maturing skin who are beginning to see the early signs of aging, such as lax skin, texture, wrinkles, and fine lines. Bellafill is also an excellent treatment for clearing away surface skin imperfections such as acne scars. Bellafill injections are great for those individuals who want to have a simple treatment that will provide visible improvements to the skin for years to come.
Clinical trial research has found that Bellafill® works equally well on both men and women and patients with a wide variety of skin types. Bellafill may not be suitable for you if you have a history of severe allergies or a known allergy to bovine collagen or lidocaine. If you take blood-thinning medications, your doctor may advise that you suspend medication temporarily. If you are prone to keloids or scars that grow excessively thick or have a bleeding disorder, an alternate treatment may be recommended.

WHAT TO EXPECT
No Recovery or Downtime
Bellafill injections require no downtime so that you may resume your normal activities immediately following treatment. Nonetheless, some patients may experience minor swelling, redness, soreness, lumps, itching, bruising, and/or discoloration at the treatment site, beginning shortly after treatment. These symptoms are nothing to worry about and typically resolve on their own within the first week after your initial Bellafill treatment.
